Short answer: Look up your constituency, then the TDs returned for that area. You almost certainly have more than one Teachta Dála. The official list is on oireachtas.ie. DáilDex can then email you when those TDs vote, speak or ask a question.

You have more than one TD
Ireland does not use single-seat constituencies for general elections. Under PR-STV, each constituency returns several TDs. The person whose poster you remember is one of them, not the only one.
A TD is a Teachta Dála, a Member of Dáil Éireann. All TDs for your area can take constituency casework. You are not limited to the candidate you ranked first.
How to look them up
Find your Dáil constituency. It is printed on election literature and on the Electoral Commission's maps. It may not match your county council area exactly.
Open the Houses of the Oireachtas members list and filter by that constituency.
Note every sitting TD for the area, including Independents and smaller parties.
Use the official profile for email, constituency office details and committee memberships.
Contact versus follow
Contacting a TD is for a personal or local issue: housing, a hospital appointment, a road, a welfare payment. Use their published constituency office or email. Clinics are usually advertised locally.
Following a TD is for the national record: how they voted, what they said in the chamber, which parliamentary questions they tabled. That is the gap DáilDex fills. It does not replace writing to them.
Whoever was elected for your Dáil constituency at the last general election or by-election. Constituencies return three to five TDs, so you will have more than one name. Check the official Oireachtas members list for the current holders.
Identify your constituency, then search the Houses of the Oireachtas members pages for that area. That list is the authoritative roll of sitting TDs.
Yes. Every TD for the constituency can take representations from people who live there. Voting preference does not limit constituency service.
No. DáilDex is independent. Use oireachtas.ie for names and contact details. Use DáilDex if you want email alerts when those TDs appear in the official parliamentary record.
