Dex Study

A study desk built for Irish students.

Keep your sources in one place, then research, learn, practise, revise, plan and write with Dex. Every answer points back to the passage it came from, and your spaces follow you from laptop to phone.

What Dex Study does

Dex Study gives your notes, PDFs and the DáilDex guides a shared home called a space. Inside a space you move between seven tools without losing your place: a library for your sources, research, a tutor, practice papers, revision cards, a plan that works back from your exam date, and a writing coach.

Bring any notes you have as text or PDFs with selectable text, or start from the built-in guides on Irish politics, law and government. Material you save stays in your DáilDex account so you can pick it up on any device.

Seven tools, one space

  • Library: keep guides, PDFs and your own notes together, with the source links intact.
  • Research: ask a question and get an answer you can trace to a passage in your material.
  • Learn: a tutor that asks you to try first, then gives hints before it gives the answer.
  • Test: practice papers built from your sources, with a model answer and a marking guide.
  • Revise: revision cards scheduled with spaced repetition, plus the questions you missed.
  • Plan: a day-by-day plan that works back from your exam date.
  • Write: a coach for your draft's structure, evidence and clarity. It does not write the essay for you.

Who it is for

Dex Study started with Irish civic subjects, so its built-in guides suit Junior Cycle CSPE, Leaving Cert Politics and Society, and university courses in politics, law and public policy. The study tools work on whatever you add, so you can use them for any subject where you have notes to work from.

Teachers can set up classes and share practice papers with a six-character code. Pupils do not need an account to sit a paper.

Built so you still do the learning

  • Generated questions and cards carry a quote from your source, and Study checks that the quote really appears in the passage it cites. Items whose quote cannot be verified are dropped.
  • Practice ratings are self-assessment. They are not official grades, and the answer key can be wrong, so check it against the source.
  • Write is a coach by default. A log of what Dex did stays with each document, so you can show a teacher exactly how you used it.
  • Your material is never used to train models and is never shown to anyone else. You can export or delete it at any time.

Every Dex Study tool

Dex Study · Learn

AI tutor that gives hints, not answers

Dex Study's tutor asks you to try first, climbs a five-step hint ladder, and lets you explain an idea back, argue a case or practise an oral answer.

Dex Study · Test

Make practice papers from your own notes

Build exam-style practice papers from your notes and guides: multiple choice, short and long answers, ordering and fill-the-gap, with a marking guide.

Dex Study · Revise

Flashcards with spaced repetition for students

Dex Study builds revision cards from your notes and missed questions, then schedules reviews with spaced repetition so you revise what you are about to forget.

Dex Study · Plan

Study planner: work back from your exam date

Set your exam date, weekly study time and topic weights. Dex Study builds a day-by-day revision plan and quietly moves forward anything you miss.

Dex Study · Write

AI essay feedback that won't write it for you

Dex Study's writing coach reviews your own draft for structure, evidence and clarity, helps with Harvard or OSCOLA citations, and keeps an assistance log.

Dex Study · Exam X-ray

Past paper question patterns with Exam X-ray

Add past papers and Dex Study's Exam X-ray lists the questions, marks, command words and topics by year, so you can see what has been asked before.

Dex Study · For teachers

Class practice papers for CSPE and Politics

Teachers can build a practice paper from a guide or their own sources, share a six-character class code and see class results. Pupils need no account.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. You need a free DáilDex account so your spaces save and follow you between devices. Asking Dex questions uses your daily Dex messages; Dex Pro is optional and raises that allowance.

The built-in guides cover Irish politics, law and government. The study tools work on any notes or selectable-text PDFs you add, so you can build practice and revision cards for other subjects. Check anything it generates against your own course materials.

No. The writing tool coaches your own draft on structure, evidence and clarity. Assessed work is not given a co-write option by default, and each document keeps a record of what Dex did.

Your spaces are saved to your account and are not shown to anyone else. Study requests do not opt into model training. You can export a backup or delete your material at any time.

Yes. Spaces are saved to your account, and Study keeps an offline copy on the device so you can revise without a connection. Asking the tutor or generating new practice needs a connection.

DáilDex is independent and is not affiliated with the Department of Education, the State Examinations Commission, the NCCA or the Houses of the Oireachtas. Check your school’s or college’s current requirements before you rely on any summary.

DáilDex

We noticed you're visiting from outside Ireland. A TD (Teachta Dála) is a member of Ireland's lower house of parliament—the closest equivalent to an MP. A Senator sits in Seanad Éireann, the upper house. You can still use DáilDex to follow either and receive the same alerts. Shareable explainer
